Iron Man 2 TV Spot from Kids' Choice Awards

Not much we haven't seen yet, but it's the first debuted TV spot for the movie. Excite! Also interesting that it would be at the kid's choice awards but I suppose Marvel is trying to get more kids/teens in the franchise. More merchandising, yadda yadda. But whatever, I know we're all excited.

The long, drawn out process to determine who will carry the shield of America's greatest super-patriot is over. Sources have confirmed to HitFix that Chris Evans has been offered the role of the title hero in "The First Avenger: Captain America."

Other candidates for the part included Channing Tatum, Ryan Phillippe, John Krasinski and Mike Vogel. HitFix has learned the word about Evans' casting came down this afternoon to the other potential Cap's that the role was Evans. Some of the other new actors auditioning for the role had not even met with director Joe Johnston yet when the decision was made.

Evans is hardly a stranger to comic fans. He previously played hot-head Johnny Storm in 20th Century Fox's two "Fantastic Four" movies. Assuming Evans takes the role, he'll be committed to a number of future Marvel films including "Captain America" sequels, "The Avengers" and appearing in other Marvel Universe pictures.

The 28-year-old actor last appeared on screen in 2009's Sci-Fi thriller "Push." He'll star opposite Zoe Saldana in another comic book adaptation, "The Losers," next month. He'll follow that up with "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" which is based on a popular series of graphic novels.

On a humorous note, this may be the second blonde Marvel hero the brown-haired Evans has played, but did not dye his hair for. Fans were initially ruffled when Evans stayed dark-haired as Johnny Storm so will he pull out the peroxide for Steve Rogers? Stay tuned.

No word officially from Marvel Studios or distributor Paramount Pictures at this time.

There's a really quick blog article from EW where they look at who would win, Superman or Batman, in honor of DC Comics's 75th anniversary. There's some good points for who would win in an actual fight and who wins in the court of public opinion. The article can be found here.

HEROES WATCH-A-THON IS COMING!

starting this coming sunday due to popular demand and the fact that the first season of heroes is wondermous - i will be hosting the heroes season 1 watch-a-thon. which depending on how well we progress, may last 2 weeks. i's a decent sized season, so i may make it so that it's 3-4 for eps or more (if you guys want to, since i'll give you links) per watching days. and there will be a discussion post every 2 days during the watch-a-thon.

on saturday i will post links for the first half of the season. the first discussion post will go up on sunday. and you can choose to watch ON sunday or pre-watch and discuss. or however you personally would like to go about it. tomorrow i will also post a schedule for the discussion posts.

i know we already do the fighty time/spam/OT posts, but i know of lots of other activity posts out sister and brother communities do. one of them being "watch parties" and "re-watch parties"! i was thinking maybe a few of us mods, or even some of you members could set up a watch party. we can even work out a schedule of who is hosting which and when. they can be movies or television shows.

like we could do a watch party of the old television show birds of prey or even buffy or something like the human target or all of them hosted by different people on a schedule. or the cartoon movies like planet hulk or crisis on two earths. and if you wanted to, you could host part for one of the live action films!

how do they work outside of just having a host? the host should either have upload links or have found a place to watch online to link the community with. these parties will be locked posts, like our download posts.

so back to my question: who is interested in this happening and/or hosting some?

BOOM! announces Samuel L. Jackson in… COLD SPACE

“I’m a long time comic reader and big fan of many genres in graphic novels and manga - from crime thrillers, westerns, & super-hero books, to samurai dramas, science fiction and horror. So I actually do read the stuff - and lots of it,” Jackson said in a press statement. “Now’s my chance to put my stamp on the medium with something new, but with a classic taste of the stuff I already like.”

Meanwhile, BOOM! CEO Ross Ritchie said pretty much what I would have said in this situation: “C’mon, who are we kidding, this is a fanboy dream! Don’t pinch me, I don’t wanna wake up! This is going to be a straight-up blast!”
